Julian OkoroManaging Editor
Julian Okoro runs Radio Purple's daily news operation: assignments, story budgets, edits and the balance check every story passes before publication. He previously served as a deputy metro editor and a digital news director. Julian is the newsroom's chief enforcer of fairness and speed in equal measure, and keeps a running list of loaded words the outlet does not use.
Ruth FeldmanStandards & Fact-Check Editor
Ruth Feldman oversees Radio Purple's standards, corrections and fact-checking. A former research librarian and investigative researcher, she checks claims from all parties with the same rubric and publishes the outlet's corrections openly. She also trains staff on sourcing, anonymous sources and AI-content verification.
Theo NakamuraPhoto & Visuals Editor
Theo Nakamura leads Radio Purple's photography, graphics and video. Daniel WhitakerNational Affairs
Daniel Whitaker covers national affairs for Radio Purple: the major stories that cut across Washington, the states and everyday American life, from disasters and immigration to energy and public health. A veteran of regional newspapers and a national wire service, he has reported from all fifty states and is known for long-form pieces that put a liberal, a conservative and a pragmatist in the same story and let readers judge. Daniel grew up in Kansas and lives outside Washington.
Claire HollisterPolitics and Policy
Claire Hollister covers politics and policy for Radio Purple, following legislation from campaign promise to implementation. She previously covered a statehouse and later health and tax policy in Washington, and is known for explainers that walk through what a bill actually does, who it helps, what it costs, and the best argument for and against it. Claire studied public policy and still reads the full text of every bill she writes about.
Marcus BellEconomy
Marcus Bell leads Radio Purple's economic coverage. Before joining, he covered markets and the Federal Reserve for a business wire and reported on manufacturing towns across the Midwest. He translates jobs reports, inflation data and interest-rate decisions into what they mean for paychecks, mortgages and small businesses, presenting the market-oriented and worker-oriented readings of the same numbers side by side. Marcus holds a master's in economics and coaches youth basketball.
Evelyn ShawConstitution Explained
Evelyn Shaw covers the Constitution, the Supreme Court and the federal courts for Radio Purple. A lawyer by training who clerked for a federal appellate judge before turning to journalism, she reads every opinion and dissent in full. Her coverage explains the textualist or originalist reading and the living-constitution reading of each case, and what a ruling means in practice. Evelyn also covers free speech, religious liberty, gun rights, criminal justice and separation of powers.
Rachel DunmoreWashington Correspondent
Rachel Dunmore is Radio Purple's Washington correspondent, covering the White House, Capitol Hill and federal agencies. She spent nearly a decade on the Hill beat for a national news service, building sources in both parties' leadership offices and among rank-and-file members. Rachel is known for fast, accurate vote coverage and for tracking how executive actions and agency rules land outside the Beltway. She grew up in Pennsylvania and is a devoted minor-league baseball fan.
